CalTeach Program Director (Academic Coordinator II)
UC San Diego is seeking a CalTeach Program Director who will lead the CalTeach Undergraduate Program in Science and Mathematics. This role involves high-level collaboration with faculty and school partners to design and implement curriculum and outreach initiatives, ensuring program quality and compliance with certification requirements.

Responsibilities
Providing program management, supervision, and strategic direction in partnership with the CalTeach Faculty Director
Collaborating with faculty, lecturers, program coordinators, and school district partners
Managing the program budget and ensuring curriculum alignment with state credentialing requirements
Leading recruitment, marketing, and retention efforts for CalTeach students
Securing and managing external grants to support program innovation and growth
Working collaboratively with co-directors in the Schools of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Education Studies
Organize annual meetings for CalTeach faculty and staff
Participate in UC systemwide CalTeach Director meetings and the annual CalTeach Symposium
Coordinate logistics for program development, including meetings, applications, and communication with participants and the Faculty Director
Manage the annual reporting process to external agencies; ensure timely submission and contribute to report writing
Serve as a backup to administrative staff by assisting students, answering inquiries, and providing program information
Provide limited oversight of CalTeach undergraduate advising and recruitment
Lead external marketing for CalTeach programs
Maintain and update program websites; analyze traffic and trends to strengthen digital presence
Manage departmental social media accounts to share program updates and support recruitment
Co-plan special events (conferences, orientations, workshops) with the Faculty Director
Attend relevant state, regional, and local meetings on behalf of the program
Qualification
Required
Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education, a math or science discipline, or a related field
At least seven years of experience in program coordination or administration
At least seven years of successful experience teaching adults and/or college-age students
Preferred
Doctoral degree in math or science education
Experience with budget management
Experience securing and managing grants
Secondary teaching experience and a current or prior teaching credential (California or out of state)
Six or more years of secondary mathematics or science teaching
Experience with curriculum development in math or science education
Familiarity with research-based practices in math and/or science teaching and learning
Experience working collaboratively in teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
