Responsibilities
Ensuring accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns for all applicable jurisdictions
Researching and interpreting sales and use tax laws and regulations, applying them to specific business transactions, and staying updated on changes
Managing tax calendars, tracking filing deadlines, and ensuring timely payments to avoid penalties
Preparing for and assisting with sales and use tax audits, gathering necessary documentation, and responding to inquiries from tax authorities
Utilizing and maintaining sales tax software to calculate, track, and report sales tax obligations
Communicating with internal teams (e.g., accounting, sales) to gather necessary information for tax reporting and compliance, as well as collaborating with external tax advisors
Maintaining organized and accurate records of tax filings, payments, and relevant documentation
Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline sales tax processes and controls
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance
In-depth understanding of state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret tax laws and regulations and apply them to various business situations
Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple deadlines and tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities
Proficiency in sales tax software and Microsoft Excel
High level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure compliance and avoid errors
