Senior Tax Analyst

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for supporting the company’s U.S. indirect tax compliance, reporting, and audit activities, while ensuring adherence to tax regulations and maintaining tax governance. This role acts as a liaison with various departments and is essential for process efficiency and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and file U.S. sales and use tax, excise tax, and other indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
Ensure timely and accurate remittance of tax payments
Reconcile indirect tax accounts and support monthly/quarterly close processes
Maintain compliance with state and local tax registration, licensing, and filing requirements
Perform tax research and analyze taxability of products, services, and transactions under U.S. state, local and indirect tax laws
Provide guidance to Accounting, AP/AR, Procurement, and Sales teams on direct and tax matters
Support implementation and maintenance of tax determination systems (e.g., Vertex, Avalara)
Assist with tax implications of new business initiatives, system changes, and contracts
Manage and support state and local tax audits, including data gathering, responses, and negotiations
Identify, quantify, and help mitigate indirect tax risks and exposures
Monitor changes in U.S. indirect tax legislation and assess impact on the company
Develop and maintain indirect tax procedures, controls, and documentation
Identify opportunities to improve compliance efficiency through automation and process enhancements
Support SOX/internal control requirements related to indirect taxes
Support K-1 and unit holder filings and correspondence
Assist with tax distribution process for unit holders
Manage information requests from external advisors related to the K-1 process
Assist in coordinating information between PE owner and 3rd party advisors
Assist with management of equity process with Finance, HR, and Legal teams
Prepare various tax workpapers using Excel
Perform data gathering for tax filings
Support property tax and tax registration processes
Prepare, review and maintain resale and sales tax exemption certificates
Support workflow process from tax preparation through tax payment processes
Gather fixed asset information for property tax and other tax return purposes
Process tax return filings, as needed
Build and maintain internal tax and permanent legal files with historical entity formation documentation and tax related information
Maintain and track tax department calendar with due dates
Maintain Tax Legal Entity Structure Chart with responsibility for tracking real-time changes
Assist with team management of tax compliance deadlines
Track customer contract reviews for the department and assist with prioritization of tax review process
After identification from tax team, manage and support team process improvement initiatives
Assist team with SOX documentation procedures (maintaining records and audit ready files)
Assist Head of Tax with tax planning, restructuring, and entity closures
Support the tax team’s development of efficiency tools (e.g., checklists, process documents, training materials, etc.)
Assist in monitoring and responding to tax inquiries received from the business
Track department budget, accrued advisory fees, and third-party invoices

Required

Minimum 5-7 years of tax, accounting, or legal experience in public accounting firm or public company setting
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field
Proficiency in Excel, including advanced skills is required
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Familiarity with tax software systems and ERP systems
Exceptional attention to detail required for preparing schedules, filing returns, processing payments, etc
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask while working independently and efficiently with acute attention to detail
Superior communication skills with ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization
Excellent organizational skills needed to manage department permanent records, compliance documentation, and tracking audit requests
Ability to use discretion and protect confidentiality of projects and employee personal details
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Learns quickly when facing new problems
Can operate independently and as part of team

Preferred

CPA or other professional licensing, preferred
