EWTN is seeking five passionate, talented students for their 2026 Summer Internship Program in Washington, DC. As a News Intern, you will support the day-to-day operations of your assigned department while gaining hands-on experience creating content for TV, digital platforms, and print.

Responsibilities

Actively participate in structured 10-week program by attending required workshops and training sessions on various topics relevant to developing a successful career path within Catholic journalism
Participate in various team, department, and editorial planning meetings related to upcoming news and event coverage
Collaborate with managers, staff, and the entire 2026 Summer Intern Class to plan, develop, and execute a final keystone project
Assist in writing news packages, voiceovers, teases, discussion segments, and scripts for TV newscasts
Support newsroom and control room functions, including teleprompter, guest hospitality and booking, script distribution, and rundown archives
Contribute to Rome/Vatican content production
Support studio and field shoots alongside Producers and Production staff
Take detailed technical and timing notes for post-production
Perform control-room tasks such as teleprompter, CG operation, tape logging, and lighting setup
Collaborate with Digital and Broadcast teams to coordinate on-air and online news coverage to strengthen brand awareness and audience engagement
Create content for websites, apps, and various social media platforms
Assist with managing multiple social media accounts and executing the EWTN Digital Strategy
Report, research, and write one - three articles per week under the guidance of assigned editors and with counsel from the editorial team
Conduct thorough and professional interviews in person, by phone/video, or via email
Prepare articles for publication, including headlines, summaries, and image selection

Required

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcast Production, Media Technology, or a related field (or recent graduate)
Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the faith and a genuine commitment to EWTN's mission
Prior experience in a professional office environment; newsroom experience is strongly preferred
Strong interest in following current events—Catholic, local, national, and international
Able to work full time (M–F, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.) on-site in DC for 10 weeks (June 1 – August 7)
Able to travel locally, as needed, for breaking news or special events
Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
Knowledge of and ability to effectively apply AP style and journalistic standards
Solid news judgment and ability to proactively develop, refine, and pitch story ideas relevant to the Church and current affairs
Excellent online research skills; ability to efficiently navigate and work within various social media platforms
Strong newsroom or TV writing skills
