Payroll Supervisor
Copan Diagnostics, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Supervisor responsible for overseeing and supervising all payroll functions of the organization. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing while providing leadership and expertise in payroll operations, HRIS administration, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions, including salaries, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes
Prepare, reconcile, and maintain accurate payroll records and reports
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws
Apply for and maintain state tax identification numbers as required
Oversee payroll tax filings and respond to agency inquiries
Facilitate payroll, tax, 401(k), and workers’ compensation audits by providing required documentation
Conduct payroll-related audits, including new hire payroll setup audits and accrual reviews
Monitor and manage PTO and sick time accruals to ensure accurate payroll tracking
Identify and recommend improvements to payroll systems, processes, and controls
Develop, review, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation
Serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert for internal stakeholders
Perform other payroll-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 7 years of progressive payroll experience required
Extensive knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliations, internal controls, and payroll tax compliance
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
Experience managing payroll-related audits, including tax, 401(k), and workers' compensation audits
Proficiency with payroll systems and the Microsoft Office Suite
Advanced knowledge of the ADP Workforce Now payroll platform
Multi-state payroll experience, including registration and maintenance of payroll accounts across states and local jurisdictions
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present information clearly and accurately
Professional judgment and accountability when handling sensitive payroll data
