Associate Scientist - Cell Biology

Responsibilities
Perform cell-based functional assays in support of neuroscience drug discovery projects
Provide technical support to project teams to achieve critical research objectives and timelines
Perform hands-on laboratory work, including routine cell and biochemistry assays:
Prepare solutions and culture media
Maintain multiple cell lines, including primary neuronal cultures
Measure biochemical or functional parameters in cells using techniques like microscopy, live fluorescence imaging, immunocytochemistry, calcium imaging, morphology, and live/dead cell assays
Perform biochemical assays such as AlphaScreen, ELISA, MSD, and SDS-PAGE
Process data generated from these assays and report findings under supervision
Accurate recording of all practical work: completion of electronic lab notebook to meet quality standards
Maintaining a tidy and efficient laboratory environment and ensuring health and safety standards are met
Qualification
Required
B.S. degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a similar field) with 4-6 years of relevant laboratory experience
Demonstrated experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture (experience with iPSCs is a plus)
Competence in molecular biology laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques, e.g. qPCR, Western Blotting and immunofluorescence
Demonstrated understanding of biology lab safety requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis, troubleshooting, and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and willingness to learn new techniques
Preferred
Background and interest in neurodegenerative disease research, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and ALS
Hands on experience with iPSCs and neuronal differentiation
Experience with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
