Responsibilities
Set up and calibrate paper bag machinery according to product specifications and production requirements
Adjust machine settings such as temperature, speed, and pressure to achieve optimal production conditions
Inspect bags for defects, such as tears, misprints, or improper sealing and adjusting the machinery as needed to maintain quality standards
Ensure quality of product and conformance to extremely close tolerances by auditing various quality tests using a variety of electronic machines and visual inspections
Diagnosing and resolving issues that arise during production, such as jams or malfunctions, to minimize downtime and maintain productivity
Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments and report mechanical or electrical problems to the maintenance department
Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, downtime, and any issues encountered during the manufacturing process
Report any deviations from standard operating procedures and work with the appropriate personnel to address them
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for themselves and their colleagues
Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly
Collaborate with team members, including machine operators, quality control personnel, and maintenance staff, to optimize production efficiency
Relieve team members during lunches and breaks and provide technical assistance to others as needed
Able to fill in during absence of B Operator
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency
May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Qualification
Required
Willing to work a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts with planned day/night rotation
Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills for data entry and machine control interface operations
Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions
Preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience as a Machine Operator in the manufacturing of paper bags or similar role in a manufacturing environment a plus
