Electronic Engineer Technician
NEOGOV is seeking an Electronic Engineer Technician to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of electronic equipment. The role involves troubleshooting electronic systems, supervising incarcerated individuals, and maintaining various electronic systems within a correctional facility.

Responsibilities
Do preventative maintenance, repair and installation of electronic equipment
Perform preventative maintenance procedures for electronic microprocessor-based equipment on developed schedule and create and maintain suggested parts inventory to carry out same
Troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment using digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, digital probes, frequency counters, and related test equipment using appropriate anti-static and safety procedures
Do installation of micro processor based equipment
In addition, install, terminate, and trace point-to-point wiring/fiber; developing drawings, schematics and computer programs to document installation of new equipment and wiring to control electro-mechanical door locking systems, cameras, security, environmental controls, and life safety equipment
Maintains equipment used in preventative maintenance
Schedule and observe required system tests internally or by a contracted third party
Will supervise incarcerated individuals assisting with tasks when and where appropriate
Is responsible for the following systems: Cameras and camera recorders, Fire alarm system, Fence alarm, Electronic gate and door locking system and controls, Staff telephone, Two way radio systems, Inmate telephone system, Inmate television distribution system, Public address system, Intercom system, Media center/CCTV system
Leads offender workers in the installation of cable tray, non-metallic wire-ways, conduits, electrical enclosures, device boxes, panel boards switch boards, motor control centers, luminaries, appliance, control devices and motors
Calculate and size feeder and branch circuits, select proper conductors and over-current devises
Calculate, size, and install grounding and bonding measures, equipment grounding conductors, grounding electrode systems
Repair, replace or remove existing devices, fixtures, luminaries, wire conduit, or damaged devices
Calculate and select proper wire devices for extension of existing branch circuits, or relocation of existing branch circuits
Perform preventive maintenance on motors, blowers, pumps, and other electrically driven devices, appliances, or machinery
Troubleshoot electrical devices using digital multi-meter, testing electrical continuity, voltage, current, use sigh, smell and sound to locate trouble and repair or replace as needed
Maintain and operate regular building automation system
Monitor HVAC functions using Siemens insight software, confirm setting and operation in the field, regulate HVAC functions by occupancy
Generate reports, trend inputs, and optimize energy efficiency with current infrastructure
Troubleshoot, repair, replace and maintain components related to air handling equipment, heating equipment, air conditioners, and refrigeration systems
Test and maintain boilers; test boiler chemistries for alkalinity, sulfite, conductivity and PH
Test safety controls on boilers, record and document readings, make alterations to chemical feeds as necessary
Train individuals in operation of electronic equipment systems to assure adequate backup is available
Develop written theory or operation documents and put together operation manuals for security systems
Make training video for operation procedures
Train other staff to help in the preventative maintenance and repair of electronic systems
Perform administrative work
Develop and document preventative maintenance procedures as well as performing other regular maintenance on systems
Develop inventory levels and maintain inventory control of necessary repair parts
Perform other documentation and reports consistent with institutional policy and procedures
Qualification
Required
Five years of full-time work experience in technical electronic engineering work
A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in electronic engineering equals one year of full-time experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in electronic engineering, and experience equal to three years of full-time work in technical experience in electronic engineering work
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in electronic engineering, and experience equal to one year of full-time work in technical electronic engineering
Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to obtain a Fire Sprinkler Installer and Maintenance License in accordance with Chapter 100D, Iowa Code
