Responsibilities

Provide naval architecture and marine engineering support to MSC, IT ship operators, and U.S. Navy programs
Own And Execute Naval Architecture Analyses, Including
Intact and damage stability analyses and stability letters
Weight estimates, weight tracking, and change impact assessments
Hull modifications, vessel alterations, and configuration impacts
Support new construction, conversions, and in-service vessel sustainment, including work on legacy ships with incomplete or degraded technical documentation
Serve as a technical authority for configuration management and baseline control, including:
Establishing and maintaining approved engineering baselines
Evaluating and adjudicating technical changes
Ensuring alignment between as-designed, as-built, and as-operated conditions
Develop And Review Technical Documentation Packages, Including
Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
Technical Instruction (TI) responses
Design reports, compliance matrices, and regulatory submittals
Support Navy-mandated shock qualification efforts, including DDAM-based analyses, in accordance with:
NAVSEA Shock Design Criteria (T9070-AJ-DPC-120/3010)
Applicable classified and unclassified Navy guidance
Support Development And Review Of Shock Analysis Packages, Including
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models of foundations, piping systems, and shipboard structures
Modal analysis, mass participation assessment, and dynamic response validation
Engineering responses to Navy Trial Cards and inspection findings
Coordinate secure handling, compartmentalization, and delivery of classified and unclassified shock analysis data in accordance with Navy security requirements
Interface with Navy technical authorities to resolve analysis methodology, presentation format, and approval concerns
Interface directly with government customers, IT ship operators, classification societies, and shipyards
Collaborate with structural, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers within EDT
Provide technical oversight and peer review of subcontractor and vendor deliverables
Support drydock planning, trials preparation, post-delivery issues, and operational troubleshooting
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing and maintaining EDT technical standards and best practices
Support Business-facing Engineering Activities, Including
Technical scope definition and task framing
Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) development
Clear articulation of technical risk, cost, and schedule impacts for leadership and customers

Required

Background check, US Citizenship, confidential security clearance, and a CAC are requirements of this position
BS or MS in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
7–20+ years of experience supporting government, military, or operator-managed vessels
Direct experience working with MSC, U.S. Navy, or major IT ship operators
Demonstrated Ownership Of stability and weight control
Configuration management and engineering baseline control
Technical change adjudication
Strong Understanding Of naval vessel stability, survivability, and regulatory compliance
Government acquisition processes and configuration control
Proven ability to manage multiple programs and priorities concurrently
Proficiency with naval architecture and stability tools (e.g., GHS, NAPA, AutoHydro)
Familiarity with finite element analysis tools and workflows (e.g., FEMAP, Nastran or equivalent)
Working knowledge of NAVSEA technical manuals, shock criteria, and configuration control processes
Understanding of IT ship operator commercial practices and their interface with government requirements
Strong technical writing, customer-facing communication, and problem-framing skills

Preferred

Experience supporting survivability, shock, or dynamic response analysis is strongly preferred
