Finance Technician I/II (Accounts Payable)
Eastern Municipal Water District is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a vacancy in their Finance Department for the position of Finance Technician I/II. The role involves performing a variety of technical accounting support and administrative duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting and financial records, specifically in accounts payable.

Responsibilities
Perform a variety of technical accounting support and administrative duties in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting and financial records
Functional areas of responsibility can include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, capital asset/project accounting, inventory, remittance processing, cashiering, and cash balancing
Perform related duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
Terminology and practices of financial and account document processing and record keeping, relating to accounts payable
Review, post, balance, reconcile, and maintain accurate financial records as it relates to accounts payable
Strong attention to detail, quick learning ability, adept at prioritizing daily tasks, and skilled in investigating and identifying discrepancies
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Finance Technician I: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing technical support to a fiscal program
Finance Technician II: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience providing technical support to a fiscal program, or one (1) year experience as a Finance Technician I with the District
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th)
Receives immediate supervision (Finance Technician I), general supervision (Finance Technician II), or direction (Finance Technician III) from assigned supervisory or management personnel
Perform detailed accounting and financial support work accurately and in a timely manner
Review financial documents for completeness and accuracy
Make accurate arithmetic, financial, and statistical computations
Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record keeping, and tracking systems
Follow and apply written and oral instructions
Prepare clear and accurate financial records
Understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures, and standards relevant to work performed
Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments
Effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
