Community Technology Center Library Program Associate

The City and County of Denver is seeking a Library Program Associate for the Denver Public Library, a vibrant hub for the community. This role involves creating positive experiences through programming and outreach to educate and promote technology usage among diverse audiences, particularly those who are digitally isolated.

Responsibilities

Create positive experiences for library customers by providing programming and outreach designed to educate and promote library technology usage to a wide variety of audiences
Provide excellent trauma-informed customer service while demonstrating integrity and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and stewardship
Collaborate with the CTC Supervisor and colleagues to ensure high-quality customer service including at busy public service desks, programming, community engagement, and outreach
Plan, design, implement, and evaluate programs and events on a regular basis for families and children of all ages
Develop and implement customer and staff technology training, instruction plans and materials
Staff busy public service desk, all-ages makerspace, and provide technology training on a variety of technology topics for customers and staff
Travel around the Denver Metro area to other DPL branches and community partner sites
Develop and implement classes and creative technology workshops collaboratively with other programming staff on the CTC team, at the Central Library, and across the DPL system

Required

Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate
Three (3) years of relevant professional experience, potentially including preparing and presenting course work or programs, performing standard research and evaluation, and/or implementing work processes
Ability to teach and train a wide variety of learners
Ability to design, prepare and implement instruction and training materials
Ability to work with children and teens
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to thrive in a working environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups
Ability to creatively solve problems and handle stressful situations in a positive manner
Ability to communicate, collaborate and establish effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public
Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility
Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with diverse customers, coworkers, and community
Ability to embrace the challenge of learning new tools, software and technology constantly
Ability to use basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software
Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made

Preferred

Experience providing customer service in a library setting
Bilingual in Spanish
Two years of public customer service experience
One year of experience teaching or presenting information in a community setting
Experience working with children and families
Experience with fabrication tools, electronics, handcraft skills, and/or the arts a plus
Experience in creating technology learning curriculum
Experience in designing handouts for public use using minimal written language
