Responsibilities

Supervise and mentor several teams of alumni relations personnel, provide guidance and support to achieve departmental goals. May function as the lead alumni relations role, developing and implementing the overall strategy
Manage a small portfolio of regional chapters and lead volunteers, assisting them with event planning and promotion
Recruit volunteers within regional chapters, guide them on budget management, committee oversight, and the creation of an annual event calendar
Establish team goals and direction and assume responsibility for their successful completion
Establish, develop, and revise priorities, project plans, and schedules, as appropriate
Ensure adherence to deadlines and budget. Interpret and clarify policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure consistent administration and compliance
Gather information, identify gaps, develop decision criteria, establish, implement, and execute plans
Work with the AVP/Executive Director to develop strategies and respond to complex or high-impact problems or opportunities for the Office of Alumni Relations
Collaborate with the development and alumni relations staff within each division, the university wide Alumni Council, and other volunteer leaders, and other senior officers of the university through close interaction with their staff and their deans
Manage team members through coaching, guiding, supporting, and setting performance and professional development goals. Actively utilize the university’s process to evaluate performance and assist employees in reaching their goals
Develop and maintain connections and collaborations between the central alumni relations program and those sponsored by the DOFF
Develop and maintain a strong partnership with DAR Development Communications
Work with other partners across the university, such as Life Design, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Student Affairs, and Athletics to develop opportunities for alumni to support and engage
Represent Johns Hopkins University, the Office of Alumni Relations, and DAR at a number of university events to include Convocation, Alumni Council Weekend, Homecoming, Commencement, campaign events, president’s and dean’s events, and more
Other duties as assigned
Provide leadership to engagement team on strategic priorities for broad-based constituent engagement at WSE
Act as a thought partner for the associate dean in setting strategic priorities for high-level volunteer pipeline for Dean's advisory and departmental advisory boards
Partner with Office of Annual Giving and WSE Communication on refining broad-based alumni communication strategy

Required

Bachelor's degree
Seven years of related experience
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education permitted by the JHU equivalency formula beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent

Preferred

Demonstrated success leading and managing a diverse team of staff
Experience managing a Donor Relations team in a complex institution
Experience in high-level volunteer management and board succession planning
