Responsibilities
The Reliability Engineer we are seeking will be an individual who thrives in a diverse work environment, has outstanding communication skills, and possesses a strong sense of engagement and continuous process improvement. Occasional travel is required to support technical reviews, meetings, and working groups
A fundamental knowledge of Reliability Engineering principles and System Safety Program conduct in accordance with MIL-HDBK-217 and MIL-STD-882 is preferred
Perform Built in Test (BIT) testability analysis
Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations in accordance with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes
Fundamental principles of Reliability Engineering including the capability to perform: Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Reliability Predictions, Built-In Test (BIT) Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Safety Analysis Report (SAR) and fundamental knowledge of statistics are preferred
Supporting development and qualification of EO/IR systems by independently analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures to control or eliminate hazards
Liaison to Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and suppliers for assigned systems
Perform hazard analyses for systems and sub-systems, software system safety assessments, and hazardous material management planning and execution
Develops safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and 8 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 6 years of experience, or 4 years with a Ph.D
Must have a minimum of 4 years' experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline
US Citizenship
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Clearance is not required to start. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment
Minimum of 4 years of experience with knowledge of engineering drawings, System Safety Engineering, and Reliability engineering
Ability to effectively communicate and present complex technical concepts to project, program, and company management, other technical managers, and customers
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Complete MTBF predictions using Windchill Risk and Reliability
Preferred
Experience in Problem Solving skills
Knowledge on the principles and operation of scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX)
Experience with FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectroscopy for failure analysis
Basic understanding of Instron load frames, tensile and compression testing as well as American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Tensile Testing Standards
Ability to develop safety documents as required to support customer requirements
Capable of understanding incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions
Develop Reliability Predictions, FMECAs, and FTAs using Windchill Risk and Reliability and/or approved prediction methodologies for mechanical and electrical designs
Familiarity with MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-1580, EEE-INST-002, or SMC-S-016
Perform FMECA, FTA, BIT analysis, implementation, and validation
Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
Develop and/or maintain system models using SysML, UAFP and UML with MBSE tools such as Cameo
Experience writing statements of work and estimating project scope
Current active US DoD Secret Clearance
