Responsibilities
Assess current TPA oversight processes, controls, and reporting structures
Evaluate claim handling practices across multiple TPAs supporting commercial P&C lines
Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risk areas in claim administration and escalation
Recommend best-practice improvements for monitoring, performance management, and accountability
Provide clear guidance on what is working well versus what needs correction or enhancement
Review the structure and workflows of the internal claims oversight team as needed
Evaluate alignment between internal staff and external TPAs
Offer recommendations to improve coordination, clarity of roles, and operational effectiveness
Produce a written assessment report within 30–45 days of engagement start
Deliver clear, actionable recommendations, not high-level theory
Participate in regular check-ins with leadership to review findings and progress
Maintain professional communication, timelines, and ownership of deliverables
Qualification
Required
20+ years of experience in Property & Casualty claims, preferably commercial lines
Prior experience working inside a P&C carrier, not solely advisory
Deep familiarity with TPA management and oversight
Strong understanding of claims best practices, controls, and governance
Ability to operate independently and deliver without heavy oversight
Comfortable providing direct, candid feedback to senior leadership
Preferred
Former senior claims leader, executive, or long-tenured claims professional
Has 'seen it all' in P&C claims operations and knows what good looks like
Pragmatic, direct, and execution-focused
Not interested in billable busywork, focused on outcomes and clarity
