Propulsion Responsible Engineer III – Lunar Permanence

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Propulsion Responsible Engineer III will support design, analysis, build, integration, and testing of the main engines on the MK2 Crew Lander as part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, contributing to sustainable infrastructure for lunar transport.

Responsibilities

Support design, analysis, build, integration and testing of the main engines on the MK2 Crew Lander
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including GNC, Structures, Avionics, Systems Test, Manufacturing/Production
Perform CAD design and fluids or structural analysis
Work directly with NASA and National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program
Develop the MK2 Crewed Lunar Lander that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth

Required

B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
5+ years of experience in developing and testing space-vehicle propulsion systems
Experience designing propulsion systems or hardware using CAD software such as CREO or Siemens NX
Experience or familiarity with first order fluids or structural analysis
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment with partners
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Preferred

M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
Expertise in CREO
Experience performing structural analysis or fluid analysis of propulsion systems
Experience with upper stages and spacecraft
Experience planning and performing integrated system testing, preferably for liquid propulsion systems
Experience with cryogenic propellants
Experience with the entire life cycle of a propulsion or fluid system
Experience with main engine gimbals/TVC, feedline or tube routing, pressurization systems, and controls
