Department Manager, AI & Data Platform Delivery

The Department Manager will lead the enterprise strategy and operational excellence of these platforms, ensuring compliance, security, and alignment with long-term business goals.

Responsibilities
Lead the enterprise AI and data platform strategy aligned with Con Edisons modernization and customer initiatives
Manage, lead and develop platform managers through coaching, performance management, and effective work assignment responsible for BigQuery, Databricks, and C3.ai, ensuring operational excellence and platform maturity
Establish and enforce platform standards, KPIs, SLAs, and operating models across all AI and data environments
Define and maintain target-state architecture, data integration, and API standards for enterprise interoperability
Ensure robust data governance, lineage, quality, access controls, and cybersecurity practices
Maintain compliance with regulatory, privacy, and audit requirements for critical infrastructure systems
Oversee 24x7 platform reliability, incident management, and operational resilience for production workloads
Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to safeguard sensitive data and operational assets
Manage budgets, cloud consumption, and vendor relationships, optimizing cost-to-value across platforms
Enable secure, scalable AI, ML, and advanced analytics use cases that drive operational and business insights
Act as the primary interface for business and operations stakeholders, translating needs into platform capabilities
Provide executive-level reporting on platform health, risk posture, adoption, and value realization
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree and a minimum of 6 years full-time relevant work experience or
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 8 years full-time relevant work experience
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise AI and data platform strategy, governance, and operations in large scale, highly regulated environments
Proven experience owning and operating core data and AI platforms such as Google BigQuery, Databricks, and C3.ai, with accountability for performance, reliability, scalability, and security
Strong background establishing and enforcing utility grade standards for platform availability, cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance
Hands on experience overseeing end to end platform delivery and operations, including architecture oversight, service reliability, incident management, and continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to align AI and data platform capabilities with long term grid modernization, digital transformation, and operational excellence goals
Experience managing platform financials, including budget ownership, cost optimization, vendor management, and contract oversight
Proven track record partnering closely with Cybersecurity, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and IT Infrastructure teams to deliver compliant and secure enterprise platforms
Experience enabling AI driven analytics and insights that support grid operations, asset management, forecasting, and customer analytics
Ability to translate complex business and operational priorities into actionable platform strategies and execution roadmaps
Strong executive communication skills, with experience reporting platform value realization, operational health, and risk posture to senior leadership
Builds and manages effective teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills
Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
Driver's License Required
Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to respond to emergencies during off-hours
Preferred
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, related business or technology aligned field and a minimum of 6 years full-time relevant work experience
