Responsibilities
Provides oversight and direction to the Assistant Attorney General-Supervisor, multiple Assistant Attorneys General, and legal support staff in the unit
Determines the direction of the unit and oversees the enforcement of the State’s consumer protection and antitrust laws, through counsel and representation to the Governor, state agencies, and corporation counsel
Enforces the statutes under the Attorney General’s jurisdiction
Responsible for budgetary administration, program coordination and related management functions
Has the authority to formulate, determine and implement management policies
Qualification
Required
Juris doctor degree
Professional attorney experience in leading a team or supervising staff that includes legal professionals
Litigating cases in court
Analyzing statutes and case law
Conducting in-depth legal research
Writing briefs or judicial decisions as a primary drafter
Candidate must be a member in good standing with the Wisconsin State Bar upon appointment
Preferred
Managing employees that include attorneys and legal professionals
Working in area(s) of consumer protection, antitrust, and/or labor law
Establishing employee priorities and objectives for professional growth and development
