Accounting Team Lead

The Partnership for Supply Chain Management is seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership to their Accounting function. This role is critical for ensuring strong financial stewardship, high-quality reporting, and continuous improvement across accounting operations, including managing the monthly close process and leading audits.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reviews, and account reconciliations
Review monthly trial balances, investigate abnormalities, and recommend resolutions
Oversee project-based, bank, asset, liability, accrued, and accounts payable reconciliations
Review balance sheet accounts, profit and loss statements, and PFSCM equity
Monitor cash-to-GL balances, insurance charges, and fee income, ensuring proper account transfers
Prepare and review bank receipt vouchers for wire transfers and interbank transactions
Prepare adjusting journal entries and detailed financial analyses for internal stakeholders
Lead financial audits and prepare required audit schedules
Oversee Form 990 preparation and submission
Develop and maintain cash forecasts
Ensure document retention in accordance with PFSCM policies and procedures
Serve as approver for all accounting-related documents in the accounting system
Manage staff performance, conduct evaluations, and provide coaching and professional development
Develop and maintain onboarding and refresher training programs for internal teams, new hires, and external stakeholders
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead change management initiatives
Perform additional duties as needed to strengthen team capacity and performance

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
CPA certification required
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including use of computerized accounting systems
Eligibility to work in the United States is required
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Strong analytical and financial reporting skills with high attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; full professional fluency in English required
Proven ability to manage external relationships with diverse stakeholders, including governments and donor communities
Strong customer service mindset with prior client or stakeholder-facing experience
Proven ability to lead, train, and manage high-performing teams
Strong judgment, initiative, and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Cultural awareness and ability to work effectively across diverse, international contexts

Preferred

Experience working with international donor agencies or government entities is a plus
