Presenting and appealing claims for benefits administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA)
Qualification
Required
Must attain and maintain USDVA accreditation in accordance with Title 38 of the U.S. Code and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) within six months of employment
Must be able to independently make decisions and recommendations on behalf of California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and the veterans we represent before the USDVA and the Board of Veterans Appeals
Must complete the requirements necessary to acquire and maintain access to USDVA systems (including VBMS and VACOLS) within 12 months of employment
Must obtain and maintain background clearance with CDCR within the first six months of employment
Experience working with the public and specifically working with veterans, dependents & their survivors
Experience in working with an under-represented demographic, to include justice-involved individuals
Experience and knowledge of the claims and appeals process for veterans benefits involving service-connected disability compensation, non-service disability pension, education and death benefits for dependents and survivors
Experience working with different government, non-government entities and other stakeholders as partners
