Responsibilities
Develop educational programs directed primarily at producers
Administer various activities at the annual convention of the association, the Iowa Pork Congress. This involves the planning of seminars and other activities
Assist with selected program activities of the association. This specifically includes: seminars, annual meeting, county board meetings, Iowa State Fair, and regional conferences
Administer pork quality improvement programs and activities including the Pork Quality Assurance Program
Develop and administer emergency response education programs and foreign animal disease programs. Coordinate with the Producer Outreach Director on State of Iowa emergency response programs
Assist the Promotion Director in ag education programs as designated
Assist with the association’s communication plan by preparing articles, informational brochures, social media and presentations
Coordinate educational programs with producer groups, allied businesses and institutions such as Iowa State University Extension, Iowa Pork Industry Center and community colleges
Attend county organization functions as an official representative of the IPPA office
Be well briefed on areas of research and be able to recommend action to members
Qualification
Required
College graduate with animal science, ag business, ag education, or related applicable degree
Understanding of pork production
Ability to work effectively with people
Ability to communicate well both in verbal and written form
Frequent travel within the State of Iowa using an association provided vehicle
Valid driver's license and good driving record
At least one year of business, education or management experience in an agricultural field
Preferred
Agriculture background with course work in management, education or communications
