The Tabletop Group is a high-growth restaurant brand seeking a Director of People Operations. This senior HR leader will create effective people systems for restaurants, manage a large hourly staff, and ensure compliance and employee relations across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

Lead the People Operations strategy for a multi-unit restaurant group, working with both restaurant and corporate teams
Develop and maintain HR programs that managers can easily implement
Take charge of employee relations, including investigations, documentation, coaching plans, terminations, and preventing issues
Lead manager training on key topics like hiring, performance, attendance, conduct, and wage and hour practices to protect the brand
Make sure the company follows all federal, state, and local requirements, and keep policies clear, up to date, and easy to use
Work with operations and recruiting to improve hiring and onboarding systems, aiming to fill roles faster and reduce early turnover
Work with Finance and Payroll to make sure pay practices are accurate, tips are handled correctly, and processes run smoothly
Manage benefits, leaves, workers’ compensation, and vendor relationships as needed
Develop HR technology and reporting tools that help leaders track turnover, staffing, training, and risk
Set up regular field visits and follow-up to stay connected to what’s happening in the restaurants

Required

At least 7 years of HR or People Operations leadership, with significant experience in restaurants, retail, hospitality, or other high-volume hourly settings
Proven experience supporting multi-unit operators and leading teams by working through managers
Strong skills in employee relations. You can handle difficult conversations calmly and document them properly
Practical knowledge of wage and hour rules, policy design, investigations, and compliance risks
Experience improving systems such as hiring workflows, onboarding, training, HRIS, or payroll processes, and reporting
Comfortable creating new processes and improving existing ones
Strong written communication skills. You are clear, direct, and consistent
Willing to spend time in the restaurants. Being present in the field is part of the job

Preferred

Experience growing a brand, opening new locations, or integrating acquisitions
Experience implementing or rebuilding HRIS systems
PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP, or SHRM SCP
