Director of Operations

The Tabletop Group is conducting a confidential search for a Director of Operations for a high-growth restaurant brand. The ideal candidate will stabilize, scale, and elevate performance across multiple locations while serving as the liaison between restaurant teams and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations across several locations and deliver strong results in sales, profit, labor, and guest experience
Build and enforce a governance model that creates consistency without slowing the field down
Take full responsibility for the store audit program, including standards, tools, scoring, calibration, follow-up, and making sure issues are fully resolved
Hire, train, and retain great General Managers, and build a strong team of Assistant Managers
Make sure food quality, speed, cleanliness, and hospitality are delivered the same way at every location
Set and manage weekly goals, visit locations, track progress, follow up, and hold teams accountable
Coach General Managers on planning staffing, keeping schedules on track, and managing controllable costs
Ensure training is effective so new hires and managers have what they need to succeed
Work with the People Operations team to manage performance, handle investigations, and set clear expectations for company culture
Help open new stores, improve underperforming locations, and bring new sites into the company as needed
Make sure safety and compliance standards are always followed at every location
Identify problems in daily operations and solve them using simple systems and clear expectations

Required

At least 7 years of experience leading restaurant operations, including managing more than one location
Proven restaurant operator who has directly overseen 50-plus locations in a corporate, franchise, or mixed system
A strong focus on governance. You can set standards, make compliance easier, and ensure things are done consistently
Deep experience with store audits and inspection readiness, with a track record of measurable improvement
You are highly accountable and have a coaching style. You set high standards and help others reach them
You have a strong understanding of staffing, controllable costs, and what drives profit and loss across multiple locations
You follow through on tasks, make sure nothing is left unfinished, and check that outcomes are achieved
You are willing and able to travel often and put time in at the restaurants first

Preferred

Experience growing a restaurant brand, helping open new stores, or turning around struggling locations
Experience working with both licensed locations and company-owned stores
Experience creating training programs or operating guides
Being bilingual is a plus, depending on the market
