Responsibilities
Supervise staff of professionals and non-professionals that are responsible for day to day tasks
Responsible for managing large complex, multi-disciplinary engineering and testing projects
Meet with clients to determine their requirements; develop large proposals (larger than $10k) including cost estimates, project plan, and terms and conditions
Responsible for personnel management of assigned staff including hiring, training, and assignments, performance evaluations, salary administration, discipline, and employee morale
Responsible for project management including staff assignments, equipment allocations, schedules, and costs
Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual budget of the department
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory agencies’ regulations
Establish and maintain client contact for the purpose of market/account development, understanding customer’s needs, building personal relationships, assuring quality satisfaction, and maintaining a professional consulting image
Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expensive for projects and/or strategic initiatives
Qualification
Required
10+ years' experience of increasing responsibility in product development/validation or other related testing
Proven success leading and managing a large department, including responsibilities customer projects are often >$10k in value
Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements as well as writing proposals and reports
Experience in managing complex business relationships, both internal and external, where conflicting priorities of team members must be managed with customer satisfaction, safety and quality are primary goal
Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events in the community, with customers and within the company
Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs. Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related science
