Grant Development Specialist 1- College of Science & Mathematics

The Grant Development Specialist will provide administrative and operational support related to pre and post-award activities, assisting faculty and staff in the preparation, development, review, and submission of grants and contract proposals.

Responsibilities
Assist in identifying funding opportunities
Review and interpret funding agency guidelines and regulations and advise faculty as to policies and procedures of those agencies as well as those of the state and University
Monitor proposal status and advise faculty on requirements and deadlines associated with research protection protocols
Coordinate and prepare grant applications for submission to include budget preparation, verification of all requirements, and approval routing
Serve as a liaison between faculty, DSPA and CSM administration for all sponsored projects
Maintain timeline for annual progress reports coordinating with project PI ensuring submission deadlines are met
Prepare reporting of grant submissions and awards for the CSM administration
Communicate with CSM Administration regarding new awards ensuring personnel effort changes are submitted
Prepare and submit personnel and non-personnel Cost Transfers, CS Authorizations, etc. to CSM Administration for review and approval. Maintain all financial supporting documentation related to funded projects
Prepare and maintain monthly reporting for all active projects. Prepare accurate and reliable financial reports and forecasts for future funding activities
Monitor renewals, no-cost extensions, and expiring projects
Communicate with PI and CSM Administration regarding any changes, deficiencies and/or concerns found
Monitor compliance regulations and audit activities with federal and state regarding use of funds, equipment, animals, training, etc
Initiate appropriate purchasing of instruments for research equipment, shipment, and supplies
Track status of lab purchases and shipments
Ensure review and completion of quarterly effort certification
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field with two years of experience in business, finance, accounting or other related field
Two years of experience preparing and reviewing funding proposals
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, public administration, or closely related field
Two years of experience in proposal submission or grant management activities in the pursuit of management of private, local, state, or federal grant or contracts
Experience in pre and post award support; knowledge of AU operational process and systems such as InfoEd
Demonstrated crafting of proposals in response to competitive solicitations that were awarded funding
Experience in a research area/department, accounting field, or sponsored program administration
Experience utilizing PeopleSoft Financials
