Responsibilities

Prepare project plannings, including but not limited to work scopes, responsibility matrices, manhours, software usage, and interface matrices
Prepare Master Document Lists (MDLs) for overall piping design-related work scopes with forecast dates based on Master Project Schedules
Align piping design input data and required dates with respective stakeholders to define piping design output forecast dates
Review and monitor project budgets related to piping, especially regarding manhours, software utilization, exotic and high-cost material purchases, and warehouse balance material utilization
Lead groups of piping engineers and designers for project executions and/or monitor work executed by engineering design houses where applicable
Review and monitor engineering design progress related to piping work scopes
Prepare and raise technical queries (TQFs) and engineering variation orders (EVOs) related to piping for additional work scopes
Align piping design outputs (such as piping isometric drawings, pipe spool drawings, etc.) with construction teams to ensure all required information is incorporated
Understand departments’ and projects’ specific design workflows
Understand contract specifications and project requirement summaries
Understand class and regulatory requirements, piping, special items, and valve material specifications
Understand P&IDs and piping routine requirements
Understand equipment layout plans, including escape routes, maintenance spaces, mechanical handling, and other equipment considerations
Understand non-piping design-related requirements such as fabrication, erection, painting, QA/QC, testing, and commissioning
Ensure all works meet project scopes and technical quality standards, complying with project requirements
Monitor P&ID revisions and ensure compliance between piping 3D models and the latest P&IDs
Monitor design input need dates and data required to execute piping design works
Monitor 3D model clashes, design review comments, and punch lists
Monitor comments from clients and classification societies
Monitor all piping-related interface points
Monitor hot works, tank coatings, and drydocking activities where applicable
Monitor piping procurement statuses and surplus materials due to drawing revisions
Monitor hold items affecting piping design completeness
Monitor and control the development of piping weights
Ensure proper communication and workflows between piping stress teams, pipe routine, and pipe support designer teams; closely monitor compliance between piping 3D models and the latest pipe stress analysis reports
Review and comment on piping arrangements, isometrics, and pipe support drawings from piping designers
Review and comment on piping calculations performed by other piping engineers or subcontractors (e.g., pipe stress analysis reports, flow master reports, surge analysis reports)
Review and comment on technical proposals from vendors
Review and comment on vendor-certified documents (VCDs)
Monitor and control drawing revisions, especially after construction has started
Ensure effective communication and workflows between piping design teams and construction teams; monitor compliance between piping construction drawings (piping isometric and pipe support drawings) and the latest 3D models
Monitor piping design database completeness (e.g., 3D model attributes) to meet project Digital Engineering requirements
Interface with vendors, other discipline leads, procurement teams, production teams, and commissioning teams
Onboard vessels to carry out site inspections
Provide support to piping construction, QA/QC, and other non-engineering design-related activities such as inspections, coatings, painting, welding, and test packages

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required

Preferred

A minimum of 8 years' experience in piping engineering or related activities as outlined above is preferred
Experience in Offshore or Shipyard projects, including rig building and shipbuilding, is advantageous
Prior involvement in FPSO projects, covering both topside and marine aspects, is desirable
Strong knowledge of topside piping design and planning principles
Familiarity with international piping standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, and classification society rules and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
Experience with 2D design software such as AutoCAD
Skilled in 3D model review tools like Navisworks
Competence in 3D modeling software including Smart Plant, Aveva, Cadmatic, or similar platforms
