CNC Set-Up Technician

They are seeking a skilled CNC Setup Technician to join their precision manufacturing team, responsible for ensuring CNC machines are properly prepared, configured, and optimized for production.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders
Understand part specifications including dimensions, tolerances, and required features
Select, install, and secure cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding devices
Set up machine work coordinate systems (WCS) and tool offsets
Calibrate machine parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut
Perform test runs to verify setup accuracy and program integrity
Inspect and measure the first machined part to ensure it meets specifications
Train machine operators to perform production processes efficiently and accurately
Provide guidance on best practices for tooling, part handling, and quality checks
Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance
Identify and correct minor mechanical or operational issues during setup or production
Work closely with engineers and quality control to ensure part conformity
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following all safety protocols
Accurately document setup instructions, adjustments, and production parameters
Track usage and condition of tooling, fixtures, and specialized gauges

Required

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred
Extensive experience in CNC machine setup and operation
Strong knowledge of tooling, machine calibration, and GD&T
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical documents
Solid understanding of machining processes, materials, and machine capabilities
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred

Technical training or certification preferred
Familiarity with CNC programming languages is a plus
