Supervising Law and Justice Office Specialist

San Bernardino County is currently accepting applications for Supervising Law and Justice Office Specialists who supervise, plan, organize, and coordinate complex law and justice functions and services within the Probation or Sheriff’s Department. Responsibilities

Supervising, interviewing, and making recommendations for hire
Reviewing and evaluating job performance; handling disciplinary actions
Training, assigning, and prioritizing work assignments
Developing, modifying, and implementing policies and procedures governing clerical operations of the department, division, and/or unit consistent with legal, court, and other requirements
Resolving difficult and complex procedural problems; researches state law, county codes and policies
Establishing expenditure controls over all office equipment and supplies
Utilizing and reviewing entries in a variety of specialized computer systems such as CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems), CLETS (California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System), JIMS (Jail Information Management System), CNI (Central Names Index)

Required

Must meet ONE of the following options:
Option 1: Three (3) years of full-time work experience performing a wide variety of complex, specialized office clerical duties, which are non-routine in nature and require independent decision making
Option 2: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent fiscal work experience reviewing, reconciling, and maintaining fiscal/accounting records as the primary function of the job
Option 3: Two (2) years of clerical experience within a law enforcement agency utilizing a variety of agency systems including warrants, jail management, records imaging, and state and federal teletype applications such as JIMS, CLETS and NCIC
Background: Prior to appointment, applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass an extensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony. Some departments may require an additional background screening, which includes a credit check
Shift: Some positions require availability to work all shifts; incumbents may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, evenings, and may be required to assist after normal duty hours in emergency situations
Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require Visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment

Extensive complex clerical and/or fiscal experience performing specialized work within a law enforcement agency that includes supervisory or lead experience
Process driven with the ability to lead a team while providing excellent customer service
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while making sound decisions and handling unforeseen conflict
