Telecommunication Enterprise Network Engineer* (County Promotional)

Responsibilities
Analyzing, designing, modifying and maintaining the County’s telecommunications networks
Providing high level knowledge and lead expertise in support of the County’s telecommunication VoIP network infrastructures
Scheduling and assisting with coordinating assignments for personnel, delegating tasks to other staff and serving as lead in the absence of and/or at the directive of the Network Services Supervisor
Leading multiple projects and applying advanced knowledge of VoIP and Call Center Networking to implement, maintain and repair the 24/7 multi-customer telephony network
Participating in and providing succession planning, career growth, and managerial growth in order to prepare the Division for the future
Analyzing, evaluating, testing, recommending, customizing and providing technical support for the telephony network hardware and software products
Leading installation and the implementation of Cisco VoIP hardware and software
Leading and analyzing network hardware and software historical data and traffic pattern reviews to improve network performance
Designing network topology and working with staff to implement
Developing and implementing dialing and network routing strategy
Leading and executing VoIP network troubleshooting, implementing system upgrades, and performing strategic planning and tactical disaster recovery
Qualification
Required
Four (4) years of full-time equivalent work experience in an enterprise voice network management environment architecting, engineering, and integrating telephony solutions
Qualifying experience must include implementation of systems in a large organization setting with a minimum of three (3) of the following voice technology related areas: Advanced Voice Network Architecture or Configuration, Telephony and Data Infrastructures, VoIP Telephony Equipment, SIP Trunking/TDM Trunking, North America Dial Plan, Telephone system programming, Experience with Cisco VoIP, Telephone N11 Short Codes / 911 operational and interoperability knowledge
Sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units of completed college-level courses in programming, information systems, computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field
Specialized technology courses or certificated programs with 450 hours of classroom instruction (equivalent to one year of college level education) is acceptable, must have 900 hours
One (1) additional year of qualifying work experience may substitute for the education requirement
Preferred
Experience in Telephony and Data Infrastructures, Cisco UCS servers, VMWare, UCM, Unity Connection and UCCE, Networking
Strong leadership, problem solving and analytic skills are highly desirable
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills, a team player with the ability to achieve goals through influence, collaboration, and cooperation
