Load Forecasting Engineer (Engineer/Senior/Staff) - Engineering Analytics & Modeling

The role emphasizes technical leadership in transmission forecasting and the analysis of time-series data to influence business decisions and adapt to the evolving energy landscape.

Responsibilities
Organically establish technical leadership around transmission forecasting at the level of the business and company
Identify viable forecasting opportunities based on need, data availability, and time constraints posed by our stakeholders and our leadership
Navigate and interrogate an array of available data sources to create transparent, explainable, and presentable models to the organization that can help further our views of future growth around standard and non-conforming demand and system capacity
Explore short and long-term electric load forecasts using verifiable econometrics, time-series analysis, statistical analysis, scenario-based, and other known methodologies
Analyze and compare forecast performance with actual results, explain variances, and suggests changes for future forecasting exercises to meet stakeholder needs
Navigate, engage, and lead the industry in topics related to load and capacity forecasting for the purposes of our transmission-related objectives
Qualification
Required
2+ years of engineering experience for Engineer position
5+ years of engineering experience for Senior Engineer position
8+ years of engineering experience for Staff Engineer position
Strong engineering background, preferably in electric power systems
Strong software development skills and proficiency in developing explainable models and analyses using Python and common Python scientific computing libraries
Ability to produce probabilistic forecasts and establish scenario-based analysis techniques
Strong statistical analyses background to provide model explainability
Ability to operate independently while aligning to the joint mission of the team
Ability to think abstractly and pursue unknown unknowns
Exceptional communication skills for translating complex results into widely understood reports and executive presentations
Prepared to support numerous in-flight change management efforts
Excellent professional ethics
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Master's degree in a relevant field: engineering, economics, statistics
Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program or equivalent
Preferred
Background in conducting power system simulation studies with an understanding of power flow and system topology analysis
Background in Data Center related work or research
