Astronics is seeking to hire a Design Qualification Test Engineer to join their Cabin Power Electronics Team. The role involves supporting the engineering development and production of Aerospace electronic assemblies, including preparing and reviewing test procedures and conducting various tests on electrical power systems.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review unit level environmental and EMI test procedures, using DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and customer specific requirements as guidance for new aircraft cabin electrical equipment designs
Perform testing required during development, troubleshooting, and qualification design phases; and document results from lab testing
Prepare and review custom system and unit level test equipment designs and drawings to enable successful tests of aircraft electrical power systems and units
Analyze and solve a variety of system, EMI and environmental test related technical problems through use of test data and specification requirements. Organize and analyze data and document results. Review results to ensure their accuracy
Support environmental and EMI development testing, troubleshooting, and formal testing using custom test equipment and standard lab test equipment
Prepare and present technical information of diverse scope for internal and external engineers, program personnel, and other internal and external customers
Act as an individual contributor, building stable working relationships internally through tasks and assignments
Guide technicians and operators in performing system and unit level testing as well as building custom test equipment
Support system level testing of aircraft electrical power generation, conversion, and distribution equipment in the Cabin department
Prepare and review system and unit level test procedures and reports for unit offerability
Support DO-160, MIL-STD-461 and customer specific testing on aerospace electrical power equipment

Required

Knowledge of DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-461 testing requirements and execution
Ability to write environmental and EMI test procedures and reports based on DO-160, MIL-STD as well as customer specific requirements using Microsoft Word or Framemaker
Knowledge of data post-processing programs such Excel, DPlot, Mathcad, and MATLAB
Electrical circuit knowledge to facilitate design of custom test fixtures, review of electrical schematics and layouts
Knowledge of electrical equipment such as DMMs, O-Scopes, and Network analyzers to support development and troubleshooting activities
Ability to guide technicians in test and troubleshooting execution as well as test fixture builds
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution or other technical discipline required
Demonstrates familiarity with the duties and responsibilities of the role, which is typically achieved with two (2) years of direct experience
Analytical or scientific software: The MathWorks MATLAB, Simulink; imc FAMOS
