Responsibilities
Provides technical support in the areas such as manufacturing, research, analysis, development, design, assembly, modification, oversight, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment and technical projects as assigned
Expected to perform normal aspects of job with limited direct supervision, including performing non-routine tasks requiring the exercise of independent judgment, and working from general instructions for new assignments
Working in a hazardous environments
Provides technical support and/or conducts work in the areas such as manufacturing, research, analysis, development, design, assembly, modification, oversight, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment and technical projects as assigned
Provides innovative contributions and leadership to a specific technical assignment
Expected to perform normal aspects of job independently and without direct supervision
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience in an industrial or research environment
Demonstrated experience performing work from technical drawings, specifications, or work instructions
General understanding of technical concepts and design
Knowledge in radiological materials handling, materials characterization, vacuum systems, pressure systems, mechanical systems, and data acquisition
Demonstrated self-starter with a commitment to organization and task preparation
Active participation in pre-job briefings, and contributions to post-job briefings to improve processes, safety, security, etc
Experience with Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Demonstrated ability to communicate oral and written ideas with others to ensure work requirements and specifications for deliverables are well understood
Ability to maintain training and active qualifications
Experience applying extensive knowledge and skills to complete specialized tasks and has full knowledge of other related disciplines
Advanced experience and/or specialized training in a technical field
Advanced experience and/or specialized training working in a hazardous environment
Experience developing technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity, creativity, and independence
Position requires an Associate's Degree and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Position requires an Associate's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Preferred
Formal training in one of the aforementioned technical areas
Experience with being responsible for execution of work and support of production processes
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
Experience with LANL-specific policies and procedures
Experience in working in hazardous environments
Active Q clearance
