Responsibilities
Review, analyze, and resolve credit balances and overpayments
Identify coordination of benefits issues and assist patients in resolving discrepancies
Handle telephone inquiries related to overpayments and refunds
Review and resolve third-party correspondence and denials related to credits and refunds
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and governmental requirements
Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) accurately
Work within defined deadlines and billing timelines
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
3+ years of healthcare billing, reimbursement, or collections experience preferred
Physician billing experience required
Strong knowledge of medical insurance coverages
Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations
Full knowledge of ICD-9/10 and CPT coding
Experience with third-party billing, including modifiers and COB rules
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred
Experience using EPIC preferred
