US - Sr Mechanical Design Engineer - AZ

Scalence L.L.C. is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast and/or forged products. This role involves collaborating across aerospace engineering teams and participating in all phases of product development, while serving as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast and/or forged products
Collaborate across aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of customers
Participate in all phases of product development
Serve as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers
Support materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast/forged parts
Interact with suppliers to help resolve issues
Lift up to 35 pounds in a single lift as needed
Travel approximately 10% within the US to suppliers

Required

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
4 years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting and/or forging industry
4 years of experience with aerospace alloys such as aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
Advanced degree in engineering or another related field
Understanding and hands-on experience in casting and/or forging processes
Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements, and approvals
Capability of assessing new suppliers and determining their strengths and weaknesses
Experience with conducting supplier audits
Experience troubleshooting material and process issues, and providing technical solutions for rapid problem solving
Liaison work between suppliers and engineering, quality, supplier development engineers, and integrated supply chain
Understanding engineering drawings and requirements
Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement tools
Experience with casting and/or forging simulation tools like DEFORM
