Responsibilities

Own end-to-end maintenance strategy and execution across a diverse, high-utilization fleet
Manage preventive maintenance and damage repair programs to ensure fleet and equipment consistently meet operational and customer requirements
Assess, prioritize, and direct repairs to prevent production downtime and support vessel and terminal operations
Review and monitor repair work to ensure the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and environmental compliance
Conduct regular inspections and report on machinery condition, repairs, safety risks, and required corrective actions
Oversee OSHA-required equipment certifications and ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards
Perform pricing, ordering, inventory control, and cost oversight for maintenance activities
Lead fleet renewal planning and capital expenditure (CapEx) strategy for vehicles and equipment
Align maintenance initiatives with financial performance goals while maintaining service reliability
Implement and leverage maintenance and diagnostics software to improve visibility, planning, and execution
Manage, coach, and direct maintenance and repair staff, including collectively bargained ILWU mechanics
Maintain productive relationships with ILWU leadership, ensuring compliance with labor contracts, grievance procedures, and disciplinary processes
Serve as a key liaison between Operations and Terminal teams to anticipate equipment needs and align maintenance priorities
Support accident investigations, damage appraisals, and corrective actions as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Maritime Operations, Business, or a related field preferred
5+ years of equipment maintenance leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or similar industries
Proven experience working with unionized workforces and labor agreements
Strong knowledge of equipment technical and regulatory compliance, terminal and stevedore operations
Experience with refrigeration, chassis repair, container yard equipment, OSHA, environmental compliance, and electrical systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with maintenance systems and diagnostics tools

Preferred

Familiarity with CDL, FMCSA, DOT, and inspection processes

Annual Incentive Opportunity: 10% of eligible compensation
