Purchasing & Inventory Specialist – Manager

Supreme Cuisine is a Montgomery City, Missouri-based food production facility specializing in fully-cooked meats and ready-to-eat products. They are seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Specialist – Manager to optimize supply chain operations and manage procurement activities, including sourcing, negotiation, and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with manufacturing needs and company objectives
Manage sourcing activities, including supplier selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure favorable conditions while maintaining quality standards
Utilize ERP systems for procurement planning, purchase order processing, and materials management
Oversee procurement activities related to production planning, inventory control, and logistics coordination
Conduct root cause analysis to resolve supply chain disruptions or quality issues promptly
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality management, logistics, and finance to ensure supply chain efficiency
Manage supplier relationships to foster continuous improvement and compliance with federal acquisition regulations where applicable
Implement category management practices to optimize sourcing across different product categories within the food manufacturing sector
Lead contract management efforts ensuring adherence to legal standards and company policies
Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to inform procurement decisions
Drive process improvements in procurement workflows to enhance efficiency and cost savings

Required

Minimum of five years of procurement management experience within the food manufacturing industry or related manufacturing sectors
Proven expertise in ERP systems, MRP, and materials management tools
Strong skills in contract negotiation, sourcing strategies, and supplier management
Demonstrated ability in negotiation, pricing analysis, and contract management
Experience with category management, supply chain optimization, logistics coordination, and production planning
Excellent analytical skills including root cause analysis for supply chain issues
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external suppliers
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field

Preferred

Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR) is a plus
Advanced certifications are preferred
