KC – Team Lead

Brown Button Estate Sales is seeking a Team Lead to manage individual online estate sale projects in Kansas City. This hands-on leadership role involves overseeing project timelines, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining client communication throughout the process.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of an online estate sale project after the sales call is completed and the client signs on
Conduct the contract walkthrough and serve as the client’s primary point of contact
Manage the full project timeline from start through customer pickup
Ensure supplies, equipment, and people are in place when needed
Track daily progress (lots per day, photography pace, catalog completion) to keep the project on schedule
Communicate project status, needs, and readiness milestones to the General Manager
Ultimately be responsible for getting the project completed—jumping in wherever needed to make that happen
Maintain proactive, clear communication with clients throughout the project
Manage client questions, concerns, or issues in coordination with the General Manager
Set expectations clearly and kindly, especially during emotional life transitions
Represent Brown Button with empathy, professionalism, and confidence
Ensure the finished online catalog meets Brown Button standards for:
What is included in the sale
Logical lot grouping
Clear titles and descriptions
Accurate condition notes
Photo quality and consistency
Thoughtful lot order
Perform cataloging work directly—especially higher-impact or time-sensitive areas
Provide backup cataloging for any portion of the sale to keep timelines intact
Apply an 80/20 focus: more attention to the best items, efficient handling of lower-end lots
Ensure photography output meets Brown Button’s standards
Jump in to photograph items as needed to keep momentum
Help stage, organize, and prepare items for photography
Coordinate closely with the Photographer to maintain pace and quality
Lead customer pickup preparation and execution
Oversee:
Lot labeling and numbering
Wrapping and bagging of fragile or multi-piece lots
Organizing lots by pickup schedule
Provide calm, friendly customer service during pickup windows
Ensure fast, accurate transfer of purchased lots
Confirm customers receive everything they bought before leaving
Coordinate refunds or issues with the Project Manager as needed
Lead a project team that includes a Cataloger, Photographer, and Project Assistant
Set the tone for collaboration, pace, and professionalism
Move team members between tasks as needed to meet deadlines
Uphold company standards and core values on every project
Participate in reviews, feedback, and corrective actions in coordination with leadership
Create or approve the sale title, cover photo, and sale description
Communicate standout items and unique finds to the Marketing Manager
Coordinate with the office on email timing and sale launch readiness

Preferred
