Responsibilities

Support the development and execution of strategic growth plans, clinical service enhancements, and program expansion efforts that advance the cardiac surgery service line
Partner with subject matter experts to conduct comprehensive strategic and operational analyses that inform program direction, resource allocation, and long-term planning
Collaborate with leadership to ensure service line goals are aligned with broader organizational priorities and system-wide strategies
Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including administrators, physicians, medical staff, and organizational leaders to promote collaboration and shared accountability
Serve as the primary administrative contact for Michigan Medicine faculty practicing at affiliate sites, ensuring consistent communication and support
Represent the Department of Cardiac Surgery in meetings, committees, and other forums to maintain alignment across both organizations
Support joint committees, task forces and workgroups as needed to advance collaboration priorities
Manage the tracking and delivery of the proposed five-year program implementation plan
Collaborate with administrative and clinical leaders on program integration, healthcare delivery alignment, and clinical improvement initiatives
Partner with leadership teams to facilitate effective communication, coordinated decision-making, and the efficient allocation of resources
Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality assurance program focused on improving patient outcomes, reducing care variation, and driving continuous improvement
Work closely with data and analytics teams to establish, monitor, and report performance metrics related to access, quality, safety, and financial outcomes
Help identify and recommend opportunities for operational improvements that enhance clinical efficiency, strengthen team workflows, and elevate the patient experience
Provide guidance on regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements to ensure programs meet all applicable standards and maintain readiness for external review
Contribute to marketing and outreach efforts to raise program visibility

Required

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum 4 years experience in project management
3-5 years of healthcare management experience, preferably in ambulatory or community practice settings
Experience leading and managing change in a complex healthcare environment
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and senior leaders
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
Background in cardiovascular or surgical service line management
Background in quality improvement and performance measurement
Experience with academic medical centers or multi-institutional collaborations
Familiarity with managed care, regulatory compliance, and healthcare IT systems
