Responsibilities
Shadow clinical and administrative employees: Observe nurses, social workers, spiritual care counselors, home health aides, and other professionals to gain insight into patient care and team collaboration
Participate in department projects: Assist with clearly defined tasks that may include research, organizing materials, data entry, or creating educational or outreach content, depending on departmental needs
Learn about home-based care: Attend orientation and learning sessions on hospice, palliative care, and home health, including the unique challenges and rewards of delivering care at home
Engage in reflective learning: Participate in guided discussions to reflect on learning experiences and career interests
Maintain professional conduct: Demonstrate respect, confidentiality, punctuality, and a willingness to learn at all times
Qualification
Required
At least 16 years of age by the start of the internship
Eligible to work in the U.S. with appropriate work permit (if under 18.)
Interest in healthcare careers and working with diverse communities
Responsible, curious, and open to feedback
Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen effectively, to select and use appropriate communication methods, and to present information effectively
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the job, including displaying courtesy and sensitivity in all contacts
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
Completion of 'Introduction to the World of Health Care' course
