Responsibilities
Serve as the subject matter authority on IBM Merge PACS architecture, data structures, and audit logging capabilities
Extract, interpret, and explain PACS audit trail data including image access, viewing, modification, export, deletion, and user authentication events
Analyze imaging study timelines to determine when images were available, viewed, or altered
Assess DICOM metadata and image versioning to identify discrepancies, revisions, or missing data
Evaluate integration points between IBM Merge PACS, RIS, and EHR systems to explain data flow and limitations
Support legal medical record production involving imaging studies, reports, and related metadata
Produce clear written expert summaries suitable for attorney review, affidavits, or testimony preparation
Translate complex PACS technical findings into plain-language explanations for non-technical audiences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a Life Sciences, Imaging Sciences, or Technology discipline
5+ years of hands-on experience administering or supporting IBM Merge PACS or legacy Merge Healthcare PACS platforms
Demonstrated expert understanding of diagnostic imaging workflows from image acquisition through interpretation, storage, retrieval, and external distribution
Strong knowledge of PACS audit logs, image access history, study lifecycle events, and user activity tracking
Proven experience producing legal medical imaging records and supporting HIM or Release of Information requests
Ability to explain DICOM metadata, image timestamps, annotations, revisions, and exports in clear written language
Working knowledge of PACS integrations with RIS, EHR systems, and enterprise imaging repositories
Preferred
Former IBM Watson Health or Merge Healthcare employee
Current or former PACS administrator for a hospital or imaging center using IBM Merge
Master's degree or advanced clinical credential (RT, RN, or similar)
Experience supporting litigation, compliance reviews, or internal investigations involving imaging data
Familiarity with multi-site PACS architectures and vendor-neutral archive integrations
Experience extracting and interpreting PACS audit logs for HIPAA or legal review
Prior consulting or expert witness support experience in healthcare IT
