Responsibilities
AI-Augmented Architecture: Design and ship robust backend services using an AI-first methodology. You prioritize architectural correctness and system design, leveraging AI tools to handle implementation details, boilerplate, and unit testing
Polyglot Versatility: Because you use AI to accelerate your syntax, you are not limited by language. You will deploy the right stack for the job (Python for pipelines, Go/Rust for performance, Node.js for speed), trusting your ability to adapt quickly
Infrastructure & Sovereignty: Own the deployment and orchestration of our cloud environment on GCP and the Cloudflare ecosystems. You will build systems that are scalable by default but secure by design
Security as Culture: Champion a "Zero Trust" mentality. Even when moving fast with AI, you maintain rigorous standards for input validation, secrets management, and least-privilege principles. You are the human-in-the-loop who ensures the AI's output is secure
Collaborative Stewardship: Work asynchronously and transparently. You write documentation that empowers others and seek consensus on major architectural shifts
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in backend engineering or full-stack development, with a proven track record of designing distributed systems
You have already moved beyond 'manual coding.' You can demonstrate how you use tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or LLMs to accelerate development, refactor codebases, and write comprehensive tests
Demonstrated expertise with GCP (specifically Cloud Run and IAM) and/or the Cloudflare ecosystem (Workers, Zero Trust). You know how to build scalable serverless architectures
Experience managing document databases at scale (MongoDB or similar), with a strong grasp of data modeling and performance optimization
Deep understanding of authentication and identity protocols (OIDC, JWT validation), ensuring that our user sessions are handled with the highest integrity
Preferred
Familiarity with integrating LLM APIs, vector databases, or AI orchestration tools into the product itself
Understanding of the fundamentals of SOC 2, GDPR, or HIPAA. You don't need to be an auditor, but you should know how to build audit-ready systems
Experience with Rust or Go is a significant plus as we look to optimize our high-performance paths
