Complex Systems Diagnostics Intern

Aeravox Dynamics is looking for a highly motivated summer intern to join their Fleet Health Management and Remote Diagnostics team. The intern will support the development of a unified Vehicle and Fleet Health Management framework, focusing on predictive diagnostics and intelligent fault management across multiple vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities

Contribute to Fleet Health Management (FHM) and Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) initiatives
Support the development of a unified framework for monitoring and managing vehicle health at both individual vehicle and fleet levels
Develop system health models for vehicle components, subsystems, and full systems using telemetry data, engineering inputs, and software diagnostics
Build and maintain a flexible, scalable diagnostic knowledge base that integrates vehicle architecture, hardware, and software, and supports multiple trims and vehicle types
Apply AI and machine learning techniques to detect early signs of failure, perform fault isolation, and recommend mitigation strategies
Explore the integration of knowledge graphs and large language models (LLMs) to enhance fault reasoning, automate diagnostic logic generation, and improve explainability and scalability
Collaborate closely with system architects and technical specialists to translate engineering knowledge into actionable diagnostic and prognostic models

Required

Strong understanding of AI/ML methods applied to Prognostics and Health Management, particularly early failure detection, fault isolation, and mitigation
Solid foundation in systems engineering and vehicle architecture
Experience in data analysis and machine learning, with emphasis on time-series data and anomaly detection
Familiarity with PHM concepts and vehicle telemetry systems or signal processing
Exposure to knowledge representation techniques such as knowledge graphs, semantic modeling, or ontology development
Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages and relevant AI/ML libraries
Familiarity with large language models or generative AI frameworks
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Proof of current enrollment or admission into an upcoming MS or PhD program
