The Global VP of R&D Engineering will be responsible for setting and executing the R&D strategy and overseeing project excellence to enhance ABB's position and profitability in the NEMA Motors Division.

Responsibilities

Set and Lead R&D Strategy & Technology Direction: Define and execute the Division's R&D strategy, technology roadmap, innovation pipeline, and KPIs while ensuring alignment with broader business goals
Drive Project Excellence & Operational Execution: Oversee delivery of R&D and engineering projects on time and on budget, ensuring adherence to processes, standards, governance, and IP/risk management requirements
Strengthen Cross‑Functional & External Collaboration: Align R&D with Product Management, support knowledge transfer, and represent the technology function with customers, partners, universities, and industry bodies
Develop People & Manage Resources: Lead organizational capability, talent development, and team performance while managing R&D budgets, resources, and overall operational effectiveness

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with minimum 15 years experience working in a manufacturing environment with recent engineering leadership responsibilities
Global leadership and financial acumen, with experience managing multi‑country teams and navigating complex custom‑order product environments
Strategic, analytical, and results‑driven, demonstrating strong problem‑solving, organizational skills, and a proven ability to execute key strategic initiatives
Exceptional communicator and relationship‑builder, with the ability to lead and influence senior‑level teams and effectively understand markets, customers, and competitive dynamics
Willingness to travel: up to 35%
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
