Paralegal - Eau Claire Trial Office
Wisconsin State Public Defender is seeking a full-time Paralegal for their Eau Claire Trial office. This role involves providing advanced litigation support and client services to attorneys, conducting client intake, and assisting in trial preparation and proceedings.

Responsibilities
Provides advanced litigation support and client services to the Trial Division staff attorneys
Conducting client intake and indigency evaluation
Investigating cases
Gathering and analyzing legal information
Complex legal research
Assisting with the preparation of legal documents
Supporting attorneys throughout trial preparation and proceedings
Informing clients and attorneys about available sentencing options and treatment services
Qualification
Required
Working with legal documents (e.g., electronic discovery, legal pleadings, etc.)
Interviewing and gathering information from people of all ages and backgrounds (e.g., mental health issues, addiction, poverty, or criminal records, etc.)
Effective oral, written, and communication skills
Working effectively with people from different ethnic, cultural, political, economic, and religious backgrounds
Preferred
Paralegal experience in a criminal defense setting
Knowledge of the criminal, juvenile and mental health legal systems
