Serrvice Coordinator - Band Instrument Repair Shop
Schmitt Music is a leading musical instrument retailer in the Midwest, specializing in beginner student band instrument sales and service. The Service Coordinator plays a key role in the repair shop by serving as the first point of contact for customers and ensuring a smooth intake and communication process throughout the repair lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact at the service window, greeting customers, retrieving instruments, and ensuring payment is collected at the time of pickup
Play test company-owned instruments to determine if repairs are needed or if the instrument can be routed for cleaning
Respond to customer phone calls, voicemails, and text messages—answering common questions, securing payment information, and communicating instrument status to private customers and Ed Reps
Intake instruments for repair by gathering initial information, involving the appropriate technician for estimates, and creating accurate service tickets
Track pending approvals or payments by checking designated shelves and following up with customers who have not responded
Organize and move completed school route repairs to the designated pickup area
Assist with general shop upkeep, including cleaning, emptying garbage, and tidying the chemical room
Support chemical changeovers and shop supply runs as needed
Perform additional tasks as requested
Qualification
Required
Ability to assess the condition of company-owned instruments and determine if repair is needed
Strong communication and customer service skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately enter and track repair data
Preferred
Experience working in a music store, repair shop, or similar customer service environment is a plus
Familiarity with musical instruments and AIM software, preferred
