The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a large agency responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of North Carolinians. They are seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to identify and assist blind or visually impaired individuals in obtaining employment through a planned program of rehabilitation services.

Responsibilities

Identify blind or visually impaired persons whose disability creates a substantial impediment to employment
Enable individuals to obtain employment through the provision of rehabilitation services including job development and placement services
Interact directly with employers in the community to assist individuals in achieving employment commensurate with their skills, choice, interests, and capabilities
Provide and coordinate services to individuals who are blind and visually impaired in the counties of Durham, Orange, Granville, and Person

Qualification

Working with disabilitiesVision impairments experienceRehabilitation counseling degreeCertified Rehabilitation CounselorCase managementTeam collaboration

Required

Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from an appropriately accredited institution
Master's degree in a related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution
Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification

Preferred

Knowledge of or experience in case management
Knowledge of or experience working with people with disabilities
Knowledge of or experience working with a team of professionals to help a client meet a goal
Experience with working with people with vision impairments
