Associate Director of Student Accounting

Inside Higher Ed is seeking an Associate Director of Student Accounting who will manage operations within the student accounting office, focusing on overseeing account receivables. Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and evaluate student accounting staff, with a focus on student receivables
Provide exceptional customer service to students, patents and other stakeholders. Address inquiries and resolve issues related to billing, payments, and account statues
Manage the accounts receivable process within the student accounting office. Oversee the University’s relationship with it’s third-party payment processing vendor
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to student accounting to enhance efficiency and control
Ensure policies are communicated effectively to students and staff
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices. Stay updated on changes in regulations affecting student accounting
Prepare regular reports on student account statues, accounts receivables, and reconciliation
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline student accounting operations
Work closely with other departments, such as admissions, registrar, and financial aid, to support overall institutional goals

Required

A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in higher education or finance position with 1 year in a supervisory role
Strong understanding of accounting principles and student accounting processes
Excellent leadership and team management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
