Responsibilities

Assists the nursing and medical staff with casting procedures including in OR, Mehta casting, and overwraps for inpatient as needed

Assesses patient for pain management. Assistance is given with cast applications and TLSO molds and other procedures as directed by the PA/MD

Provides education to families related to cast care

Assures adequate inventory of cast room supplies and keeps cast equipment clean and in excellent working condition

Maintains the physical environment of the cast rooms by ensuring that cast rooms are clean and safe

Provides safe and effective age and developmentally appropriate patient care

Qualification

Orthopedic Cast Technician CertificationCasting experienceBasic Life Support (BLS)Patient careCommunication skills

Required

High School Diploma/GED

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred

At least 1 year of casting experience in pediatric orthopedics
