Discovery Overnight Camp Program Coordinator
Keystone Science School is a leader in nature-based learning and outdoor education, and they are seeking a Discovery Overnight Camp Program Coordinator. This role is crucial for maintaining the daily operations of the camp, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for both campers and counselors through effective programming and logistics management.

Responsibilities
Support overnight preparation, on-call duties, challenge hike logistics, and camper choice/adventure day coordination
Collect camper choice sheets by breakfast on Tuesday mornings and build schedules for Wednesday and Thursday activities
Create staff teaching schedules and camper choice rotation schedules (pending approval from the Discovery Overnight Manager)
Schedule, set up, and staff weekly all-camp games, including assigning roles and gathering necessary materials and equipment
Create, implement, and support weekly curriculum and camper choice activities based on session themes
Prepare detailed field group binders for each session, including camper rosters, schedules, printed curriculum, skits, songs, and logistics for overnights and challenge hikes the week prior to each session and ready for distribution at the Monday Staff Meeting
Share key information with counselors at Monday Staff Meetings, including weekly curriculum highlights, overnight locations, challenge hike assignments, and adventure day details
Work alongside the Discovery Camp leadership team to support counselors and assist the Camp Manager as needed
Step in to support camper or staff concerns when required, while primarily focusing on programming and logistics
Qualification
Required
Have an interest in, respect for, and ability to work with children and people with diverse backgrounds
Ability to create an inclusive learning environment for campers from a wide range of backgrounds
Ability to remain calm, flexible, and resourceful in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
Works effectively across departments and with leadership to achieve organizational goals
Understanding of best practices in camp programming, risk management, and experiential education
Prior experience working in overnight or day camp settings, preferably at Keystone Science School or a similar program in a leadership position
Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment
Age 20+ with an excellent driving record and a valid driver's license
Dexterity, auditory and visual acuity to operate computers and phones or mobile devices
Auditory and visual acuity to interact with guests, sponsors, donors and clients on a daily basis
Able to work for long periods of time without break during the conduct of presentations and events
Able to lift 25 lbs. with minimal assistance
Able to successfully manage multiple, high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Outdoor recreation experience in hiking, camping, backpacking or rock climbing
Knowledge of science based curriculum (e.g. forest ecology, geology, biology)
