Responsibilities
Managing work experiences for young people with a disability
Job coaching by learning a job a consumer has been hired to do, teaching the consumer, making any adjustments needed due to a disability or visual impairment for work task success
Recommends environmental and/or job modifications, accommodations related to individual work tasks, using the latest and most beneficial technology and will ensure client training in operation of technology
Direct and regular contact with community and business leaders in developing work experience and job placement opportunities in assignment
Coordinate with DSB staff, school personnel and individual family members
Work directly and primarily with the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor – Transition assigned to the area
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution
or Associate's degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience
or High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience
or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of or experience in case management
Knowledge of or experience working with a team of professionals to help a client meet a goal
Experience with working with youth in transition
