Staff Data Engineer
FAMU National Alumni Association is focused on transforming the healthcare ecosystem through technology and data. The Staff Data Engineer will build and operate large-scale ingestion and transformation pipelines that power the enterprise data platform, ensuring high-quality and reliable data delivery.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and support production ingestion pipelines (batch + incremental + CDC) using AWS services and orchestration frameworks
Design systems that operate reliably at scale, supporting high-volume ingestion and multi‑tenant workloads
Build repeatable patterns for schema evolution, idempotency, deduplication, late-arriving data handling, backfills, and replay
Implement Snowflake-side patterns: Snowpipe, Streams/Tasks, stored procedures, warehouse sizing, query tuning, and cost controls
Define and enforce data contracts and data quality gates (validation rules, reconciliation, anomaly detection, auditability)
Drive operational excellence: dashboards, alerts, runbooks, incident analysis, and continuous improvements to reduce reruns and MTTR
Collaborate with platform engineers to standardize onboarding patterns and create reusable framework components for teams adopting Data Platform
Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work
Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success
On Call Policy : Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical issues, including outside standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), ensuring timely response and resolution as per defined SLAs
Qualification
Required
8-15 years in data engineering / data platform roles shipping production-grade pipelines
Strong hands-on experience with: SQL (advanced) + performance-oriented data modeling
Python (pipeline logic, automation; FastAPI is a plus)
Airflow (or equivalent orchestration) including retries/backfills and dependency patterns
Snowflake (query optimization, tasks/streams, Snowpipe, stored procedures)
CDC / incremental loading patterns and operational handling of real-world edge cases
AWS: S3, MWAA, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, EMR (plus IAM basics)
Experience operating systems at scale with clear ownership, reliability mindset, and strong documentation
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
